Attorney III

The candidate supervises and reviews work of staff attorneys; performs organization and administrative duties; initiates, en­gages, and defends litigation; performs legal research; reviews and prepares legal documents; handles appeals; renders legal advice to clients; performs factual investigations. Should have Graduation from an accredited law school; admission to the State Bar of Arizo­na. Must have 4+ years of relevant legal experience. Preference may be given to candidates with experience in prosecuting drug offenses and violent crimes.

Must have thorough knowledge of: principles and practices of law; legal procedures and administrative proceedings; methods and practices of pleadings; judicial procedures and the rules of evidence; principles, methods, materials, practices and references utilized in legal research; principles and practices of management and supervision.

Should have Considerable skill in: applying legal knowledge and training; determining alternative courses of action; analyzing, appraising, and organizing facts, evidence and precedents; rendering logical, clear and effective written reports and oral arguments; presenting and arguing cases in court and handle unanticipated problems smoothly.

Must have ability to: establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public; follow written and verbal instruction; communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
