Product Safety and Regulatory Affairs Counsel

Duties: Advise Proterra engineers, technical staff, government relations staff, customer service, operations, and management on FMVSS, CMVSS, FTA and NHTSA regulations applicable to battery electric powertrain suppliers and commercial vehicles, including transit buses, and applicable state laws and regulations. Represent Proterra in EPA and California Air Resources Board matters regarding certification and compliance with powertrain and vehicle certifications, and related regulations. Consulting with and advising business leaders in areas related to compliance including domestic content policies (e.g. Buy America), and global environmental compliance matters. Represent Proterra before federal and state authorities, agencies in regulatory matters. Work closely with internal clients and with Proterra partners on compliance matters. Review proposed laws and regulations and assist in Proterra’s public policy work. Support Proterra participation in trade association matters. Draft, review, and implement internal policies and procedures.
