Renewables Legal Intern
Intern will assist the in-house legal team in a variety of matters. These matters may include, subject to the practical experience and needs of the business during the summer, reviewing and revising contracts, drafting memos, legal research, assisting in due diligence and major transactions, and other special projects. Will work with the attorneys and staff in the legal department, as well as business personnel, and outside counsel. Matters undertaken by prior Interns, which involve both general commercial and industry-specific areas of law, have included: Undertake cross-functional activities to broaden your knowledge of AVANGRID and its companies. Collaborate in project-based assignments, challenging professional work experience. Interaction, networking and exposure to various levels of leadership and management. Amazing mentorship opportunities. Initial review of standard contracts, including confidentiality agreements, professional service contracts, landowner issues and letter agreements. Research projects on contract interpretation, employment, insurance, trademark, patents, construction permits, and interstate-commerce trucking. Overseeing the process of replacing a suite of standard financial contracts with counterparties which involved negotiating contract amendments and replacements directly with counterparties. Researching real estate issues relating to wind leases. Participating in negotiations for the sale of energy and green tags from a wind farm to a large utility or municipality.
