Product and Privacy Counsel

The candidate will partner closely with, and provide guidance to, Product, Engineering, Design, Business Development, and Marketing teams on issues related to all products and features throughout the entire product development lifecycle. Drive privacy initiatives and assessments; advise on privacy-related legal requirements. Anticipate and identify legal and regulatory risks and propose creative and effective solutions to mitigate those risks. Review products, features, platforms, and initiatives to provide practical legal and regulatory guidance while advancing business interests and ensuring an excellent merchant and customer experience. Help drive consensus and coordinate with public policy, communications, and other cross-functional teams on multi-disciplinary issues. Drive enterprise-wide consumer privacy initiatives and privacy assessments; advise on cybersecurity incident responses and related legal requirements. Anticipate and identify legal and regulatory risks and create strategies to reduce those risks. Remain up-to-date on relevant industry, consumer protection, advertising, IP, and privacy laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, BSA, FinCEN, KYC, DD, CCPA, GDPR, FCRA, Reg. E. Provide ideas and insights into how we can work within the law to create amazing product experiences for our merchants and their customers. A J.D. and membership in at least one U.S. State Bar. Should have 5+ years of legal experience in Fintech as a practicing attorney (a mix of law firm and in-house counsel experience is a plus). Experience with payment products is required. Knowledge of domestic and global privacy and data security laws, rules, and regulations. Experience working independently and cross-functionally. Excellent collaboration skills to partner with tech and non-tech teams in providing legal advice on payment products and privacy laws and regulations with a creative, consultative approach.
