As an AIG Tax Analyst, you are primarily responsible for preparing annual information returns for payments made to or from a Variable, Fixed or Index Annuity. You will handle form types including, but not limited to, 1099-R, 1042-S, and 5498. You achieve this by researching, maintaining and updating tax records in mainframe systems and via SOVOS/Convey tax software.
You will get an opportunity to learn a little bit about each processing department by being responsible for providing accurate and timely tax data for AIG customers across multiple product lines and processing systems. You will work closely with departments like Inforce Management, Control, Programming, Accounting and the Client Care Center.
This position works in a team oriented environment and requires a positive attitude, attention to detail and exemplary attendance. The incumbent is expected to develop and enhance their product knowledge within a short time frame. Training is provided in-house via classroom settings and one-on-one situations. The incumbent needs to be able to work irregular hours and overtime as needed or required to meet IRS deadlines.
- Maintaining and adjusting tax records throughout the year to meet company goals and IRS deadlines.
- Takes initiative to gain knowledgeable of system functionality and be able to identify process improvement opportunities

- Ability to manage multiple tasks, use independent judgement, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

- Strong computer skills, including MS Excel (formulas preferred) and ability to learn new software quickly
- Ability to prioritize and work productively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Strong critical thinking skills, including a logical approach to problem analysis and resolution used to identify/evaluate problem situations for improvement opportunities.
- Require excellent professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Prefer 3-5 years financial service industry experience
- High School diploma required
: This position reports to the Individual Retirement Tax Manager, reporting to the Vice President of Claims/Tax.
