Public Outreach and Communications Specialist

POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment, and corrective action services to clients worldwide. Across multiple industries, our diverse staff specialize in the areas of air, water, waste, environmental planning, ecological and cultural resources throughout our 45 offices located across the country and internationally.

We are seeking a Public Outreach and Communications Specialist for our Western Intermountain Environmental Services PM Group to join our 250 person environmental team. This position will be based out of our Lakewood, CO office. This is a full-time, salaried position that comes with a great benefits package.

Roles and Responsibilities

This person will oversee and implement the following duties:

Coordinate and execute public outreach and communications aspects of projects

Develop and execute communication plans and strategy

Assist in developing detailed work scope/outline, budget, and schedule for completion

Coordinate meetings with agencies and other stakeholders for information gathering and dissemination

Develop project presentation materials such as mailers, newsletters, and FAQs

Schedule and facilitate communications meetings for project team members, including web-based video meetings

Coordinate with internal and external project teams

Work across all of POWER’s business lines to assist with engineering, planning, and design efforts

Assist supervisor with long-range visioning and business planning

Mentor junior staff as requested by supervisor

Help lead innovation for new technologies and processes for public involvement services

Assist with business development and maintain relationships with new and existing clients

Coordinate administrative and professional staff on tasks, schedule, and budget

Maintain quality control for all deliverables

Travel 15-20% of the time; overnight stays will be required

Other duties as assigned

Required Education/Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Political Science, or related field

Minimum five (5) years’ experience working on communications and public outreach for utility and energy related projects

Proficiency in MS Office applications including but not limited to Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook

Proficiency in operating and facilitating web-based meeting platforms including but not limited to Zoom, Cisco WebEx, MS Teams

Salary Range: $65,000- $100,00

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The final agreed upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
