Associate General Counsel, Litigation
The candidate will manage defensive litigation and arbitration for the UnitedHealthcare segment. Identify, select, and proactively supervise outside counsel in connection with all aspects of litigation and arbitration. Represent the organization at depositions, mediations, hearings, arbitrations, and trials. May provide legal counsel in connection with internal investigations, subpoenas, and responses to government inquiries. Protect the organization’s rights in connection with disputes, arbitration, and litigation. Develop, maintain, and leverage deep knowledge of healthcare law and the managed care industry, including the firm's commercial and government programs lines of business, in connection with job duties. Work collaboratively with other areas of the Legal Department, including the Clinical, Contracting, Transactional, Operational, Regulatory, and Compliance teams. Provide legal advice and services on issues concerning the rights, obligations, risks, and privileges of the organization. Juris Doctorate degree, 7+ years of complex commercial litigation experience at a law firm and/or in-house legal department. Experience evaluating and determining best legal course of action to meet business needs. Good standing in one or more jurisdictions.
