SUMMARY

Bering Global Solutions, LLC

a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation,

is seeking an experienced Medic in support of the Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) International Police Peacekeeping Operations Support (IPPOS) program. 

The requirement is to support U.S. government efforts to enhance the operational effectiveness of police in peacekeeping operations. The goal of this program is to improve the capacity of partner countries to generate, train, deploy, and lead effective police officers and units in UN Peacekeeping missions by providing capacity-building support and specialized training.

The IPPOS program has a multi-pronged approach:

Build institutional sustainability to improve the management, logistical, and administrative capacities that contribute to high-quality deployments. 

Collaborate with UN Police Division to improve doctrine, develop UN training standards for police, and certify UN instructors.

Train FPU commanders, FPU mechanics, and FPUs in areas that include, but are not limited to, leadership, firearms, VIP protection, and equipment maintenance.

Develop local training staff and mentor them as they deliver UN required pre-deployment training to Formed Police Units (FPUs) and Individual Police Officers (IPOs).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position, and are

not

intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.

The role of the Curriculum Designer is to assist in updating the established INL-provided UN curriculum to incorporate current best practices for adult learning and content updates from INL and/or the UN. This is a part-time, as-needed role as the curriculum for the courses INL offers has already been approved. Updates to the curriculum may be required periodically and the Curriculum Designer will be required to incorporate changes to the current curriculum materials, or develop new courses and curriculums as directed by INL.

Responsibilities:

Serve as an adult-centric learning expert in his/her area of expertise in support of IPPOS training requirements;

Review IPPOS curriculum when directed to ensure it incorporates best practices for adult learning and instructional methods;

Remain up-to-date on curriculum content as published by the UN;

Remain up-to-date on best practices for adult learning;

Make content updates to curriculum based on UN curriculum content updates in consultation with and as directed by INL;

Attend UN peacekeeping training workshops;

Understand the mission, goals, processes, and roles to support enhancements to existing curriculum;

Collaborate with subject matter experts to understand requirements and recommend a variety of appropriate learning solutions;

Develop complex scenarios or interactions and other course material using diverse approaches, platforms, and authoring tools;

Manage the development of instructional materials that are functional, informative, and consistent with sound instructional design principles;

Manage project timelines and coordinate with team members and partners to meet project deliverables; and

Participate in deployment reviews (training assessments) in the field to validate the effectiveness of training curriculum and delivery methodologies, and adjust and improve engagement as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience;

Five (5) years’ experience in instructional design using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation);

Excellent communication and organizational skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;

Proven experience collaborating with subject matter experts, global stakeholders, and managers;

Experience managing/updating training content residing on content management systems; and

Experience managing, monitoring, reporting on curriculum and assessment data.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Professional in Learning and Development, or equivalent certification;

Graduate of FLETC Instructional Systems Design Training Program or comparable program;

Familiarity with United Nations Peacekeeping affairs;

Familiarity with international and/or law enforcement training programs; and

Experience designing curriculum for law enforcement training programs.

Employees who are required to travel in connection with an order, must be physically able to travel to the intended destination and remain there without significant health risk for the required period. Employees will be responsible for assuring they have received the proper immunizations and take proper health measures before, during, and after said travel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

Work is CONUS based, however, may require travel to and within countries with security, health, and other potentially dangerous conditions. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervisory responsibilities are not required for this position

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.

This position may be subject to random drug and or alcohol testing on an unannounced basis.
