This position is a 3rd shift position.
Under general supervision operates the forklift, loads and unloads trailers.
Receives instructions from supervisor regarding shipping schedule.
Operator must do a forklift checklist on a daily basis at the start of their shift.
Retrieves material that is to be shipped and places it in the loading/staging area.
Before loading a trailer, there must be a lock on the airbrakes and verify that there is a wheel chuck on the trailer tires. (Standard procedure.) Removes chain and activates the loading ramp on to trailer.
Loads trucks and maintains a check off procedure.
Monitors and ensures that all product is properly identified and tagged.
Completes documentation for each load and turns it in to the guard shack or supervisor.
Assures that all equipment is in good operating condition and all safety devices function properly. If any equipment is malfunctioning it must be reported to the supervisor immediately.
Operators are required to wear proper PPE when operating equipment, and additional safety gear if needed.
Required to clean up their workstations on a daily basis and maintain organization.
Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
May work on special projects/assignments upon request.
Must be able to understand and comply with established company and plant policies and procedures such as safety, S.E.P., S.O.P., etc.
Has ability to perform simple arithmetic, fractions, weights and measurements.
Must have valid forklift certification.
