Job Summary

Builds the vision for our pricing/underwriting function including how deals are assessed, model is built and executed. Accountable for the completeness of the modeling work, assumptions and overall assessment of the profitability of potential proposals and to retain existing business and to continue to win new business.

Job Responsibilities

Sets the vision for the Pricing/Underwriting team and oversees financial aspects of the contract and pricing process and related efforts.

Develops and drives the modeling strategy that links the long-range plan to our deal models.

Underwrites large (>$1B in pharmacy revenue) high-profile proposals, special projects and reviews and approves underwriting proposals performed by the analyst team.

Partners with internal and external clients during the sales and contracting process to provide financial and pricing guidance to ensure maximum profitability. Works collaboratively with Sales, Account Management, Finance, and Operations to assure proposals meet client requirements.

Partners with Contracting team regarding the prioritization of contract deals to align pricing support.

Collaborates with internal stakeholders regarding process improvements related to the contract & pricing process.

Provides advanced subject matter expertise and guidance regarding all finance related decisions for our deal models with significant scope and a high level of business complexity.

Develops and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; builds and inspires employee morale and motivation; ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and at least 8 years of business and/or finance experience preferably in a healthcare setting (for example: Retail Pharmacy, PBM, Pharma company, etc.) OR a High School diploma/GED and at least 11 years of business and/or finance experience preferably in a healthcare setting (for example: Retail Pharmacy, PBM, or Pharma company, etc.).

Experience building and maintaining relationships within a matrixed team.

At least 5 years of experience modeling and/or implementing pricing strategies focused on consistent and/or increased profitability.

Experience analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions and experience in synthesizing the information into the big picture view.

Experience in diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.

Experience developing strategic initiatives which align with business goals and budget.

Experience building and maintaining relationships within a team and across functional teams.

Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using AVERAGE function, merging and centering cells, printing centered page and/or creating a pivot table).

Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).

Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).

At least 5 years of experience planning, developing, and managing departmental expense and capital budgets.

At least 5 years of direct leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership experience.

Willing to travel up to 25% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree / MBA

Knowledge of pharmacy industry including Retail, PBM, Managed Care, Mail Service, and/or Specialty Pharmacy.

At least 5 years of experience managing complex projects (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).
