The Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager is responsible for implementing and refining all continuous improvement / Lean-APS procedures & programs in accordance corporate requirements to meet Policy Deployment and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets. This position works closely with the operations team on continuous improvement projects utilizing Lean/APS, Six Sigma principles at the Hesston site.
Job Function and Responsibilities
*Drive targeted, sustainable improvement in SQDC/P (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost/Productivity) that is tied to Policy Deployment (PD) and Daily Management (DM) by leveraging Lean/APS tools. *Provide tactical administration of the APS Roadmap (i.e., how to use the APS tools to drive sustainable improvement in results). *Facilitate formal and informal APS training and coaching. *Be an active Leader in PD and Daily Management reviews (as appropriate.) *Ensure successful kaizen events by installing and ensuring compliance to the kaizen process (includes; (1) planning of kaizens with a dynamic funnel process tied to PD and Daily Management, (2) kaizen execution and (3) sustainment of kaizens). *Promote and facilitate diagnosis of work flow obstacles and other wastes throughout the business, and provide expert counsel on appropriate Lean tools to eliminate them. *Improve Lean training and facilitation skills by pursuing certification in Lean/APS tools (MBB process for self and others). *Promote and facilitate associate development in various Lean/APS tools and kaizen leadership. *Manage Six Sigma, Kaizen, APS and Capital Projects. *Manage other duties and tasks as assigned.
Education, Qualifications and Experience
*BS Degree in Business or Engineering required; Master’s Degree preferred. *Six Sigma Certification – Yellow Belt of higher; Black Belt preferred. *Demonstrated Lean/APS experience (ex. 5S, Visual Management, Kaizen Basics, Root Cause/Countermeasures – RCCM, SMED, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, FMEA, etc.) *Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations and recommend appropriate action. *Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and implement a Lean/APS roadmap for an operating business. *Ability to “master” of a variety of APS tools *Superior communications, training, consulting and influencing skills. *Familiarity with various manufacturing process technologies. *Good writing and administrative skills, including computer skills *Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management.
