Knowledge Management Lawyer (Transactions)
Duties: Evaluate current KM infrastructure and work to improve the ability to capture and disseminate information and research and to identify and prioritize new projects that will contribute to the efficiency of the Transactions PG by working with the CKO and advisory partners designated by the Transaction PG. Generate, organize, and integrate knowledge content and facilitate the sharing of knowledge and information both within and outside of the Transactions PG by working with the Transaction PG’s attorneys. Facilitate the Transaction PG’s ’s efforts to create and maintain a searchable knowledge repository (e.g., practice collaboration site on YourSource) of exemplar forms, clauses, local counsel directory, precedents, memos, research, 50 state surveys, business development materials, and other helpful content for the practice such as industry updates and client alerts. Monitor key industry updates, legal decisions, and client alerts to provide important updates to the attorneys within the Transactions PG. Develop procedures for generating, maintaining, updating, accessing, and disseminating information (including the Transactions PG forms and precedents) and other materials. Develop with the CKO Foundation, the firm’s experience management platform, the tags and values relevant for profiling Transaction PG work, coordinate and manage matter profiling efforts, generate, and review reports to ensure that matters are profiled appropriately, and assist in training of new associates. Review a data set within KM AI models of McDermott PE Purchase Agreements to collect market intelligence on nearly 100 of the most heavily negotiated items in PE Purchase Agreements including an additional review of legacy Purchase Agreements and an ongoing requirement to profile this data as new PE deals close. Collaborate with CKO and IT to create and revise PowerBI data visualizations to allow users to create custom reports with market intelligence specific to their deal. Consistently and effectively communicate the availability and location of the Transactions PG's knowledge management resources. Develop a user-friendly interface and training materials that make the Transactions PG’s knowledge management materials easily accessible to the Transaction PG as part of their day-to-day practices. Develop and present training for the Transaction PG on the firm’s KM technology platforms including Foundation, the Transaction PG Collaboration site, tailoring the training to highlight aspects of the technology most relevant for the Transactions PG in light of their unique needs. Identify possible gaps in substantive training relevant to the Transactions PG, and coordinate with Professional Development to develop, organize, and deliver (individually or with others) training, which may include workshops and off-site training . Work with the KM department to evaluate, test, and deploy innovative technology to reduce manual data collection, automate document creation, assist with legal research, and to otherwise support the practices.
