Legal Assistant
The candidate will review calculate and prepare incoming figure requests for payoff, reinstatement, bidding, post-judgment, bankruptcy, affidavits of debt, and redemption quotes for our attorneys, clients, or other areas of the company as needed. Calculates and provides instructions at the loan level on the application of funds received for defaulted loans. Maintain a working knowledge of work rules and/or changes of these rules governing recoverable and unrecoverable expenses such as, but not limited to, late charges, property inspection fees, corporate advances, escrow advances in accordance with state, local practices, and client procedures. Respond to attorney and client phone, email, or Desktop inquiries concerning details about quotes. Analyze and prepare quotes and/or fees and costs: payoffs, reinstatements, bankruptcy, bidding, affidavits, and redemptions, in accordance with governing work rules, client procedures, and state statutes and laws. Assure that all line items are properly accounted for and milestones have been met, review in our client management system if recoverable or non-recoverable in accordance with client requirements. Correspond with attorneys, clients, and billing to obtain information (Principal, Interest, attorneys fees and cost, corporate breakdown, miscellaneous fees, and cost) that will be included on the quotes in applicable timeframes. Review and monitor for possible billing updates/changes as needed for quotes. Send quotes to the requestor via email, fax, or Lender systems such as Black Knight Financial Services(BKFC), LoanSphere, Tempo, Clarifier, Vendorscape, and other systems. Respond to client inquiries via phone, email, and lender systems regarding additional details about the quotes. Research any payoff or reinstatement quote discrepancies and disputes from borrowers, closing agents, attorneys, or clients. Maintain workflow timeliness through investor prioritization including approaching standard items and RUSH items, to maximize compliance with client service level agreements. Stay informed of client changes and/or investor/ insurer updates and take appropriate action as required. Stay informed of CFPB changes and state regulatory changes. Suggest ways to improve processes and potentially gain efficiencies through automation and communicate suggestions to the leadership team. Perform other duties as required. Prior legal experience is preferred. Excellent writing, proofreading, customer service, and communication skills. SAble to take direction and work independently. Highly organized and detail-oriented. Should have knowledge of the Mortgage Default industry is a plus.
