Associate Attorney - Civil Litigation
The candidate works within the practice group litigating complex and high-exposure files. Conducts legal research. Independently drafts pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other file documents. Attends court events and other appointments independently. Learns and understands client expectations and key department business goals and assists them in meeting those goals. Handles and actively seek opportunities to become involved in special projects and on committees. Provides recommendations and case analysis to clients on appropriate file handling strategy. Completes all required administrative tasks including time reporting, closed cases, reports, and other materials appropriate to the performance of job duties. Effectively makes use of technology and automation in the practice of law. Adheres to all standards of excellence in file management. Travels as required to meet business needs. Provides advice and training to claim partners/clients. Maintains the integrity of the Firm and products offered by complying with federal and state regulations as well as company policies and procedures. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Prepares and litigates cases to verdict, demonstrating superior use of trial skills and techniques. Should be licensed to practice law, in good standing with the Alabama Bar. Should have 2-4 years of continuous, specific, and verifiable experience. Must have heightened attention to detail and understanding of meeting deadlines, without compromising efficiency and effectiveness. Must have great research skills. Must have the technical know-how of Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc., and Adobe, and file management software. Should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor, and presentation, both in person and virtually; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines; high ethical standards observing confidentiality of client matters at all times; strong writing ability, including all court pleadings, discovery documents, client reports, and communications. Should have experience with strategic use of written discovery and depositions to position cases for settlement or trial; experience with effective motion practice, including drafting and arguing motions in state and federal courts; experience with taking and defending depositions. Preferred previous areas of practice experience include personal injury defense, first-party insurance defense, and construction litigation prosecution and defense. State travel will be required. should possess 2-4 years of previous civil litigation experience.
