Healthcare Compliance Specialist

The candidate will responsible for assisting the Compliance Officer in implementing internal controls, performing continuous monitoring and testing, and maintaining databases of all monitoring activities. Provides reports and analytics on findings and develops corrective actions plans. Develops and provides trainings to sales and marketing associates as needed. Interfaces between compliance, business, medical affairs and operations teams to ensure all relevant laws and rules are understood and complied with. Performs monthly monitoring of HCP T&E expenses in Concur, prepares follow-up communications and corrective actions. Prepares reports and analytics relevant to T&E monitoring, maintain logs. Provides training and re-training to associates as needed. Assists in developing monitoring and testing programs on HCP engagement process, Grants and Donations and other processes identified as high-risk business interactions. Performs analytics on CMS available data and provides meaningful insights to senior leaders on company’s spend. Performs quarterly testing of Terumo spend as published in CMS. Supports the company in transitioning to an automated HCP Aggregate Spend Program. Develops guidance and checklist to support associate’s compliance with company’s requirements and identifies creative ways to use ‘lesson learned’ and case studies to continue to enhance awareness of compliance risks and to boost a working environment where decisions are driven by integrity. Helps develop and expand the Compliance risk-based monitoring program. Reviews metrics and reporting from across the organization in order to identify emerging or potential risks. Actively interacts with various corporate functions, instruct and update associates on compliance risk areas, policies and procedures. Coordinates with other compliance professional teams across Terumo organization to align monitoring and testing and leveraging expertise and lesson learned. Contributes to the monthly compliance newsletter. Performs other duties as assigned. Ethical, with a strong understanding of compliance risks and a good sense for practical solutions are required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Ability to interact effectively with associates at all levels in all departments are required. Proactive, flexible, responsive and resourceful are required. Communicate clearly, concisely and effectively are required. Ability to listen carefully and effectively communicate complex topics with different types of potential clients are required. Good knowledge of Concur and SAP are required. Capable of quickly learning different software and systems to identify trends are required. Ability to grasp best practices and use them to provide client solutions are required. Ability to review and synthesize data into meaningful reports are required. Demonstrated ability to quickly establish trust and rapport with other personnel at all levels are required. Efficient at handling and prioritizing multiple projects in a service-oriented environment are required. Bachelor’s degree required. Juris Doctorate and Compliance Certification a strong plus. 4 - 6 years in the medical devices industry or pharmaceutical preferred. Must have at least 2 - 4 years of direct and practical experience with drafting policies, managing training programs and performing testing and monitoring activities, preferably in a compliance or legal business function. Knowledge of laws (FD&CA, Anti-kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, HIPAA, Sunshine Act, and State laws), regulations, industry guidance and best practices regarding compliant sales, marketing, and medical activities is preferred.
