Deputy State's Attorney
The candidate should be interested in criminal justice work and acquiring substantial experience in trial work. Must possess excellent verbal and writing skills, and organizational skills to effectively manage a caseload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment. Exercises all the powers and duties of the State’s Attorney in prosecuting criminal offenses within the county. Will handle own caseload and may be required to assist other with trial work. Must ensure timely data entry of cases as required by the Office and Department. Must collaborate with co-workers, law enforcement officers, partner and community agencies. As part of the State’s Attorney’s Office, expected to pursue best practices, innovative approaches and positive policies affecting the justice system. should have ability to accurately interpret and apply state and federal statutes, rules and regulations. Must have ability to work independently, exercise initiative, maintain confidentiality, ensure accuracy, and meet deadlines. should have excellent skills in writing and oral communications. Must have J.D. degree and admission to the Vermont Bar. A candidate pending bar results or admission may be considered, but will be required to successfully pass the bar and admission process in order to continue employment. Courtroom and jury trial experience desirable.Computer skills required.
