Accounting Manager

Profile

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• “Hands on” management of the general ledger, accounts payable, cash receipts, payroll, tax, and trust accounting functions while supervising any related staff
• Manage daily cash/collections including all banking and credit card activities
• Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, journal entries, and G/L analysis
• Prepare and review special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends especially around AR and collections.
• Assist management by providing additional administrative support including special projects/tasks.
• Maintain and regularly review accounting controls to preserve and safeguard Firm assets and financial information.
• Ensuring compliance with Trust Agreements & Bar Rules
• Interview, select, train, develop, and coach assigned staff. Develop a strong, collaborative and team-oriented culture in accordance with Firm values.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge necessary to lead the team and contribute to the Firm with excellence.
• Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, and controls
• Assist with the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
• Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required
• Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties

Requirements:

• Bachelors in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• 10+ years & experience in accounting or finance preferably in a law firm or professional services firm setting.
• 5+ years & management experience
• Strong QuickBooks skills and/or ERP systems
• Proficient in MS Office suite especially Microsoft Excel
• Strong GAAP accounting skills
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Superb organizational and leadership skills required
• Willing to work onsite in El Paso or Tucson offices or hybrid remote/on-site.
