What is the role

The North America Crude Commercial Operations team is responsible for managing the physical delivery of Shell Trading’s domestic and international movements of crude. The team of operators work within the Crude Oil North America commercial teams to optimize overall profitability through its commercial acumen and expertise in blending and operations. The team is responsible for managing the logistics (truck, rail, pipeline, marine, and terminals) of all bulk and offshore lease crude movements to/from market hubs.

The team is seeking to fill the role of Operations Business Analyst. The Operations Business Analyst is expected to develop an in depth understanding of physical crude trading operations and how operations intersect with the commercial goals of Shell Trading.

The individual should be able to collect and analyze operational information and present their findings to operations and commercial staff to help drive decision making. This role offers the opportunity to drive improvement initiatives end-to-end across the life of a deal. The operations business analyst will also be a focal for operations projects, including the documentation of procedures, automation of scheduling processes, and technical solutions. The role will also serve as an interface between commercial operators and mid and back office teams; for example, responding to inquiries about actualizations and settlement of invoices. In addition to their analyst activities this employee will also be asked to do limited coverage of scheduling desks.

What we need from you

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred.

Minimum 3 years of work experience.

Project management experience and skills

Possess knowledge in crude quality and measurement

Knowledge of crude operations, actualization and settlement processes

Advanced Excel and data management skills. (Macros/Solver/Database Management)

Knowledge of Endur, QlikView and Salesforce.com a plus.

Strong technical, numeracy, analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills to recognize and solve problems quickly.

Proven ability to operate and effectively communicate under extreme pressure to deliver under tight deadlines and make quick decisions.

Team player and high inter-personal skills capable of developing and maintaining strong internal, external and virtual relationship.
