IP Portfolio & Compliance Executive
The candidate works within the IP & Market Strategy (IPMS) team to support the IPMS team’s work to manage the commercialization of company's intellectual property portfolio. Undertakes all aspects of paralegal duties, with a particular focus on the Innovation Lab intellectual property portfolio and the associated commercial agreements and revenue streams. Under direction of the Executive Director, the IP Portfolio & Compliance Executive plays a key role in tracking, monitoring and maintenance of the Innovation Lab IP portfolio to enable efficient and timely prosecution and maintenance of Innovation Lab IP portfolio. Furthermore, this individual manages project costs, revenues and compliance with associated commercialization agreements to enable management of revenue distributions to all stakeholders. Liaises and communicates with internal and external stakeholders, including with all Innovation Lab Teams, Innovation Lab Member Systems, innovators and external partners. Further duties of the IP Portfolio & Compliance Executive include reporting and tracking of Innovation Lab activities and working with both internal and external stakeholders to support the development and implementation of best practice across company. Entering new cases and all associated background information into the IP management system; as well as entering due dates into IP management system and tracking; Monitoring actions due and informing relevant Lab staff and inventors of actions due in a timely manner; monitoring IP-related fees due and informing relevant stakeholders of fees due in a timely manner; Liaison and coordination with IP attorneys, Lab staff and inventors to meet all due dates; liaison and coordination with inventors and stakeholders to gather signatures on IP-related documentation required by relevant patent offices; Extraction and recording of relevant information from correspondence and national and international IP databases; Maintenance of regular communication with attorneys, Lab staff and inventors about docketing and prosecution matters, including securing approvals of IP-related expenses; Scanning and archiving of all relevant documentation related to IP filings; as well as recording and monitoring of costs, expenses and revenues associated with IP filing; Managing and tracking all Lab agreements and recording and monitoring of costs, expenses and revenues associated with those contracts; Assist in quality assurance review for IP filings and associated documentation by noting and referring any errors or omissions during docketing to attorneys and staff; Assists with developing, implementing and supporting best practice processes for IPMS team and Lab working with both internal and external stakeholders; Manage all return of rights requests for all Member Systems, Public, and SoPE projects; and tracking research requests to and from external partners, including Cleveland Clinic; Supports IPMS team collaboration with all Innovation Lab teams to enable timely development and commercialization of Lab IP; Perform legal and non-legal research and analysis to support IP & MS team activities; Provides general support to the IP & MS team as required.
