The Brand Account Manager for Beauty & Personal care will identify, prioritize and develop business with Beauty & Personal Care Brands to grow the Beauty & Personal Care vertical at above market growth rates. The Manager will manage Univar Solutions’ relationship with Brands across the US to generate above market value opportunities for key strategic suppliers. This involves working closely with consultants and formulators to better understand Brand trends and Indie Brands, providing Indie Brands with a turn-key service, providing pricing, formulations, and strong exclusive products while directing them towards trusted contract manufacturers in the field.
Other key expectations include: providing an unparalleled approach to chemical sales/distribution that will increase volume and margin across the country more efficiently than today; working with Regional and Global Brands to provide unified pricing and stocking strategies to ensure on time production; expediting growth by working closely with the sales team to execute Brand contracts prior to execution at contract manufacturers; growing the business to determine precise strategic benefits that distribution can provide to Brands; and working closely with key suppliers and internal personnel to support successful long-term contracts.
Lead margin, revenue and volume growth at Brands
Responsible for developing sales/marketing strategies to deliver short-term success with Brands where segments allow, and to build long-term strategic growth opportunities with Brands
Act as the focal point inside Beauty and Personal Care and with key suppliers to develop greater cohesion in our approach to Beauty Brand Owners
Feed market intelligence from Brand owners to Beauty and Personal Marketing team to disseminate to sales force
Own Indie, National and Global brand relationships high, wide, and deep to capture above market value
Build profitable contracts in an assigned territory by leveraging stocking agreements across the US using strategic pricing
Respond quickly and proactively to new market segments and applications with a focus on Marketing, Supply Chain, Sales, and Product Development
Work with trusted consultants and formulators within the market to build and maintain a prospect list of emerging Brands
Continue to leverage relationships with Indie Brands before and after they are acquired to gain new business opportunities
Penetrate and grow project driven growth directly with Brand targets, by leading with key supplier initiatives and leveraging Univar Solution Centers.
Contract existing and new Brand business, capturing both direct and indirect spend
Connect and communicate Brand data to global Beauty & Personal Care colleagues
Build and maintain a visible Brand Owner pipeline that is aligned with business objectives of Beauty & Personal Care and moves Brand business successfully through the Beauty & Personal Care pipeline through Brands and/or contract manufacturers
Qualifications Required for Consideration
Successful experience (5 years minimum) in Beauty and Personal Care Sales, Marketing, and/or technical. Ideally with a specific focus on Brands
Possess existing relationships with Brands and Consultants within Beauty and Personal Care
Successful experience across multiple Brand types, ranging from emerging Indie to Global Brands
At least a bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) and demonstrated experience in a related technical field associated with Beauty and Personal Care
Industry experience and distribution knowledge a plus
Ability to develop contracts from concept to completion
Demonstrated business development skills to generate growth
Ability to work across boundaries and drive complex partnerships and programs, particularly through Sales and Product Development
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle complex projects and multi-task responsibilities
Demonstrated ability to develop a strategic vision and the market research skills to support this development
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with all levels of people in the organization
Demonstrated strong financial acumen, project orientation, analytical and financial interpretation skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated across all levels in organization, as well as with external customers
Experience in establishing strong customer relationships and in negotiating with senior business managers
High level of decision-making expertise, balancing customer needs with company requirements
Projects a professional and positive image both inside and outside of the company
PC literate in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and various business systems
