Vice President, Compliance

The candidate will design and drive the implementation of policies and procedures to identify/prevent illegal, unethical, and/or improper conduct, including standards of conduct for management and employees; oversee the day-to-day operation of the compliance program; monitor the performance of the compliance program continuingly, take appropriate steps to improve program effectiveness and ensure continuing currency and relevance. Report periodically to the Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors regarding sales and marketing best practices, the state of the Company’s compliance program, and results of audit and investigation activities, including Company v. industry trends. Work with the Human Resources Department and others as appropriate to develop an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees, as well as ongoing training for employees, managers, and, as appropriate, independent distributors; institute and maintain an effective compliance communication program for the Company, including promoting (a) use of the anonymous reporting hotline; (b) heightened awareness of standards of conduct; and (c) understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures. Act as an independent review and evaluation function within the Company to ensure that compliance issues/concerns are being appropriately evaluated and resolved. Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic or recurring risk areas; provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future. Respond to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, by evaluating and recommending the initiation of investigative procedures; develop and oversee a system for uniform handling of violations; collaborate with other departments to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution; consult with the General Counsel, as needed, to resolve complex compliance issues. Oversee the operation of the Compliance Committee; to remain abreast of the status of industry best practices. Ensure proper reporting of violations or potential violations to enforcement agencies, as appropriate and/or required. Should have a Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years in compliance operations within a regulated healthcare organization. Juris Doctorate is preferred. Experience in compliance operations within a medical device organization is a plus.
