Title IX Coordinator
The candidate will serve to coordinate the University's efforts to comply with its responsibilities under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and regulations promulgated thereunder in May 2020. Support the University's efforts in providing an inclusive and harassment-free learning and working environment for its students, faculty, and staff. The position provides strategic guidance, advising, and decision-making in all areas pertaining to the University's work to prevent and respond to discrimination and harassment, including sexual misconduct. This position reports directly to the Chief Diversity Officer and will also serve as the University's 504 Coordinator. The selected individual will receive and promptly respond to, investigate, track and report disclosures of potential unlawful discrimination and harassment (including sexual misconduct) and/or university policy violations on the basis of protected personal categories; identify any patterns or practices of discrimination of harassment; develop, implement, and continuously review of the University's policies against harassment and discrimination; serve as the University's subject-matter expert on requirements of and compliance with Title IX, and related federal and state laws; identify and integrate best practices in equity compliance, investigations, and education; develop educational content to support student and employee learning on matters related to discrimination, harassment, 504/ADA & Title IX policy, and prevention strategies; provide training and educational sessions to University faculty, staff, and students; collaborate with other University departments and individual faculty and staff on discrimination and harassment prevention initiatives; and keep the Interim Chief Human Resources Officer, General Counsel and President apprised of their work on a regular basis. Should have 5 years of related or transferable experience, including demonstrated investigatory experience; exceptional communication (verbal and written), organizational, mediation, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and students having a range of backgrounds, interests, and perspectives; demonstrated ability to respond quickly and appropriately to crisis; and have at least a Bachelor's degree. Master's degree, J.D., or other advanced degree in a field relevant to equal opportunity compliance will be preferred.
