Senior Office Technology Manager
Responsibilities: Maintains without modification or editing the firm's CORE systems and operation of technical services including voice mail, telephone systems, wide area networking, applications and administrative software, including but not limited to standard operating systems, applications, integration, communications services, recovery systems, custom programs, security and maintenance systems operating and standards governing system use and access; maintains consistency and conformance with firm operational standards. Documents all technical systems and office recovery procedures in conformance with firm disaster recovery and other emergency preparedness planning; maintains and updates documentation. Operational responsibility for local installations of Firmwide systems. Accountable for all local office computer and telephone equipment, including hardware (firm owned and leased), software systems and licenses) and related networking or other equipment; maintains asset inventory including purchase and change control documentation. Develops, maintains and oversees day-to-day operations of LAN, WAN, computing and telephone systems and services for local office, including Establishment of office specific operational schedules for services and support; monitors operations and troubleshoots problems; schedules and supervises preventive maintenance and service, and computer and telephone moves, adds and changes; in coordination with Firmwide IS, Applications and Telecom Managers schedules and oversees new installations, upgrades and conversions; monitors equipment usage, plans for capacity and high performance throughout and makes recommendations for system upgrades; supervises, trains and generally directs the activities of technical support staff and vendors. Develops and dates documentation of technical systems, programming and user configurations and procedures for all office computing systems; maintains detailed trouble logs of hardware and software problems, including problem resolution summaries. Responsible for office systems backup and storage on and off site, including televaulting and encryption services, and documentation/logs re same; manages and establishes relationships with vendors to provide special or custom imaging or other storage systems as required. Is responsible for network and desktop computer backups and laptop computer backup systems availability; manages restores, file archives and image redundancy, and coordinates with vendors and firm departments regarding CD and other information services, including data loads, etc. Coordinates local training needs with firm wide technical training resources. Responsible for high level technical and training service for office(s) users and technical support staff; establishes office systems for response to standard and emergency requests (including 7 x 24 hour help and recovery response); provides Legal Professionals with technical service and/or consulting when required for clients and legal practice. Responsible for disbursement cost recovery systems and routine system data management including download of validation files and daily update of charges from all office systems to accounting systems. Coordinates with firmwide IS departments, is responsible together with the Director of IS Office Operations for identifying local office needs for consolidation into firmwide IS budgets. Monitors expenditures; anticipates and analyzes variances and reviews with Firmwide IS management proposed corrective actions or alternative courses of action as required. Responsible for the physical security of computer and telephone systems in the local office, including facilities and access to hardware, software, and data; coordinates with Firmwide IS regarding virus protection on local and remote systems, and security systems for portable computer equipment assigned to the local office. May have Central IS, other projects, departments or responsibilities assigned as an implementation, redundancy or ongoing services require. Such additional responsibilities and/or projects are detailed on the attached Schedule. Coordinate, discuss, plan and implement other projects and tasks as assigned Director of IS Office Operations and/or Firmwide IS Management such as, technical support of subtenants as outlined in lease agreements, office or firm related disaster response, project pilots, testing, beta or client reviews and general management projects.
