The candidate performs and oversees substantive legal work in his/her core areas of expertise as part of multiple cross-functional teams. Oversee, manage, and assume general legal oversight and support for multiple business units or departments within the the firm's enterprise. Has core legal and subject matter experience in the following areas: general health care operations and/or regulatory matters. Provide legal/regulatory interpretations and operational advice to business units or departments on a variety of matters including new legislation/regulation. Provides legal support for a variety of corporate, operational and health care related matters, and reviews, writes and edits agreements/contracts, reports, opinions, correspondence and other documentation in support of the Legal leadership team. Performs substantive legal work in his/her core areas of expertise. Provides practical advice and counsel to the business under the supervision of the Vice President, General Counsel for assigned group(s)/team(s). Participates in substantive legal projects within the Legal, Risk and Compliance Department, coordinating with other team members. Engages and effectively manages outside counsel as needed for strategic areas of legal support to ensure high value to the fiem. Proactively stays abreast of legal developments impacting subject matters within his/her areas of expertise and provides updates to the department and the firm , as applicable. Identifies and executes on process improvements to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the delivery of legal services within the firm. Experience in a private law firm and/or in-house counsel for an integrated healthcare delivery system. Proactive, collaborative team member. Visible, approachable individual who is an effective communicator and educator. Strategic business partner dedicated to managing and reducing potential risk and exposure while furthering strategic objectives. Solution-oriented team player who has credibility and integrity, provides counsel and contributes broadly as a subject matter expert. Capable of supporting and contributing to a culture that actively seeks input to further optimize the firm's day-to-day operations. Should have a Juris Doctorate, 10 years of experience. Current law license in the state in which one currently practices. If not licensed in Texas, must obtain a Texas license within 6 to 12 months of hire.
