As an Analyst, Financial Reporting (SEC, GAAP), you will be responsible for more complex accounting and reporting activities associated with the GAAP accounting close and complex financial statements and supporting schedules. You will provide technical accounting expertise while implementing and analyzing accounting policies to support Lincoln Financial Group's goals and strategic objectives. You will carry out duties such as SEC and other regulatory reporting, which may include 10-K/10-Q filings, XBRL, Benefit Plans, GAAP accounting close, and Investor Relations/Business Unit support as needed.
Prepare and review more complex financial statements, footnotes and supporting schedules
Conduct more complex financial analysis on consolidated and business unit results, including providing ongoing support for the business unit teams and our various other partners as needed
Support quarterly earnings release and other technical/complex matters such as debt offerings and investor presentations
Research more complex technical accounting and reporting matters as they arise, and document conclusions reached in accordance with relevant accounting literature
Assist with the GAAP accounting close including the preparation and/or review of more complex journal entries and account reconciliations
Monitoring and Analysis
Analyze more complex financial statements and other supporting schedules to understand trends in the business and ensure the accuracy of reported results, and communicate analysis to key stakeholders
Stay informed of existing and emerging financial accounting and reporting principles, assessing their applicability
Monitor peer company filings as needed to stay current in trends within the insurance space
Help maintain and improve our internal control system to ensure a successful outcome of SOX testing and opinion
Decision-making, Strategy and Management Accounting
Participate in or lead projects pertaining to our strategic digitization initiatives as well as other initiatives within Finance and the Chief Accounting Office
Demonstrate ability to identify and recommend process improvements (e.g., new system implementations, system conversions, strategic initiatives) and procedural or accounting changes
Lead complex special projects including new accounting principle implementation and SOX process improvements
Audit and Assurance
Assist in the preparation and/or review of industry and governmental surveys
Provide support for partners across the organization for all accounting and reporting needs
Partner with our External Auditors to ensure a successful outcome from an audit opinion perspective
Undergraduate degree or 4 years of comparable work experience; educational concentration in Accounting or relevant field is required
Masters degree in Accounting desired
3-5 years of experience in Financial Reporting OR Public Accounting that directly aligns with specific responsibilities of position
Exposure to Hyperion Essbase and PeopleSoft general ledger, preferred
Ability to prioritize and manage workload as necessary to meet deadlines
Strong organizational and communication skills
Strong project management skills, including critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines
Desire and ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts with strict attention to detail
Strong analytical, leadership and decision-making skills
Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Ability to work with others in a team environment
