Purpose:

The Learning Advisor will lead as a performance consultant for the Shell’s retail business in the US – supporting innovative content design and delivery for all sales and marketing programs, capability building of Shell Retail staff and engage site staff across the US to drive excellence in customer service. The role partners with other regional Learning Advisors to develop and own the delivery of a robust learning plan that is aligned with key business aspirations (Being the Brand of Choice for our Customers, Partners and Shareholders).

Accountabilities:

The Learning Advisor’s main accountability is to guide the business on best practices in delivering learning in the right amount, at moment of need, to achieve a specific outcome, use of brevity, bite-sized content that is easy to understand, and is relevant to the learner and can be applied quickly to a job:

Design and Development –Drive integration of learning design with new technologies and ways of working that include approaches such as mobile, social media, and virtual reality that work in a retail environment for the modern learner. This includes a full embrace and understanding of the 70-20-10 model.

Business Knowledg e - Including the customer offer, local operating platforms and the US business plan to ensure learning support is fully-aligned.

Strategic Focus –Strong Business Partnering; develop and sustain strong business partnerships with key stakeholders (senior business leaders in sales & operations, marketing, network, finance, HR) to enable a firsthand understanding of development needs and work to improve the overall effectiveness of learning interventions.

Learning Commerciality – Proactively identify and capture opportunities to maximize the value of the dollars spent on capability building, which includes well negotiated supplier contracts and linking all learning interventions to business priorities.

Development of Robust Learning Plans - Ensure the implementation of both global and regional learning initiatives are executed flawlessly.

Training and Team Effectiveness Expertise - Demonstrate strong expertise in training and facilitation skills, including (but not limited to) the use of various learning tools, media and methods with diverse audiences; Act as a coach in the learning team as well as for the Retail business.

Thought Leadership - Provide thought leadership on the modern learner, adult learning science and the application of the science. Be the subject matter expert on Learning insights and trends for the business.

Requirements:

At least a Bachelors’ degree; MBA is an advantage.

Organizational Design experience required with a proven record of leading change management and team development type interventions.

Experience in influencing and working with a wide variety of stakeholders to achieve stand-out results is essential.

Experience working with and/or managing virtual learning environments is an advantage.

Prior experience in HR and Commercial roles within a Retail business are considered. Strong experience in a Learning role with facilitation, intervention and instructional design exposure is most ideal.

Fluent in spoken and written English (Spanish speaking is a plus, but not required)

Excellent project management skills
