The Payload Launch Sites Support Services (PLSSS) Program provides all launch processing support functions for Office of Space Launch (OSL). The program’s two primary operating locations are Vandenberg AFB, CA and Cape Canaveral AFS, FL. Key elements of the PLSSS program scope include satellite launch processing, satellite transport operations, satellite propellant loading operations, and satellite processing facilities O&M, clean room operations, and safety and environmental services.
The Architect selected for this position will work under minimal supervision and be required to apply their knowledge of design, construction procedures, zoning and building codes, and building materials to plan and develop projects of small to large scope while also evaluating existing facilities for code compliance. The Architect is responsible for the integration of applicable engineering elements into a unified design that identifies the specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs and construction time data. Assigned tasks will include preparation of statements of work (SOW) and scale drawings for sub-contracted efforts as well as developing finished plans, specifications, and contract documents necessary to support the bidding process. The architect will conduct on-site observations of work during projects to monitor compliance and ensure successful completion of project objectives. Use of computer-assisted engineering and design software for structural analysis and design tasking will be required for some projects and tasks. The assigned duties will require frequent consults with customer, industrial partners, and co-workers.
The applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Bachelor's of Science degree in Architecture or related field
Must be a US Citizenship
Minimum 10 Years’ Experience in architecture or civil engineering
Experience performing facility structural evaluations and designs
Florida Licensed architect
Building code knowledge (IBC, UFC, ADA)
OSHA safety code knowledge as related to construction and maintenance
Construction and renovation project cost estimating
Industrial, office, secure facility (SCIF) and clean room facility design
Facility Condition Assessment
Project Management and scheduling
Proficient use of AutoCAD software
Experience using the MAXIMO work order system
Knowledge of LEED projects.
Knowledge of all conventional aspects of structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design.
