We are a national law firm based out of Tampa, Florida. Our Tampa office is looking for an experienced and determined attorney to add to our Labor and Employment Division. This attorney will assist with managing a diverse portfolio of clients and cases within our employment practice group. These matters involve various employment issues, including wage and hour, workplace safety, restrictive covenants, discrimination, retaliation, disability accommodations, family and medical leave, termination, etc. The attorney who joins our Labor and Employment Division will have two primary roles: an advisor and an advocate. As an advisor, the attorney will help client companies manage their business operations with respect to compliance with various employment laws and regulations. This involves reviewing, revising, and/or preparing company policies and practices, employee handbooks, and various employment agreements; this also involves advising clients regarding specific employment circumstances or incidents. As an advocate, the attorney will represent clients in litigation, administrative investigations and proceedings, and dispute resolution proceedings (mediations and arbitrations). This position is a client-facing role with responsibilities that include consistent interactions directly with the client, preparing and responding to pleadings and discovery, court appearances, depositions, trial work, and strategic negotiations and dispute resolution. During the process, you will regularly collaborate with other attorneys at our firm to manage each of your assigned cases.
To be successful in this role, the attorney should possess strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills, and must utilize big picture thinking, with an attention to detail, and the ability to evaluate the best approach with shifting priorities.
