The NYS Migrant Identification/ Recruitment Program at the Research Foundation for SUNY at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Migrant Recruiter
This position is employed through the Research Foundation, Not SUNY Oneonta.
The NYS Migrant Identification/ Recruitment Program identifies and recruits migrant children (0-22 years) throughout the state for educational and support service programs offered by the New York State Migrant Education Department. This position will conduct a year-round census in-person in Clinton and Franklin counties. The candidate will work with school districts, migrant programs, community agencies, and agribusiness partners within these counties.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Conduct timely identification and recruitment of migrant children and youth within a designated geographic area.
Complete the electronic Certificate of Eligibility to document student eligibility.
Collaborate with regional instructional sites to facilitate the sharing of information in regard to student needs.
Deliver summer services to newly-identified Out-of-School Youth.
Develop positive collaborative relationships with school districts, community agencies, agribusiness partners, and other appropriate entities with the goal of establishing an effective recruitment network.
Assist in promoting community understanding of the Migrant Education Program.
Participate in professional development, team meetings, and organizational events as directed.
Occasional overnight/multi-day travel within state to conduct recruitment activities.
Salary:
$37,050-40,000 commensurate with experience. The position provides mileage expense reimbursement and an excellent benefits package. Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Bilingual Spanish/English
Valid driver's license, working vehicle, and proper insurance
Candidate must live within the recruitment area advertised (Franklin or Clinton counties)
Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience working with migrant populations
Proficiency in conversational Spanish
Experience working with and serving diverse populations.
Additional Information:
Interviews will be conducted in Potsdam, NY. Candidates will be subject to background checks.
