Duties: Preparing cases for litigation, prosecuting violations and administrative review of the Chicago Municipal Code in Circuit Court or at the Department of Administrative Hearings; collecting debts owed to the City, prosecuting violations of the Illinois Vehicle Code in Circuit Court. Duties may include: trying cases; conducting hearings; researching and writing motions, memoranda and briefs; litigating administrative appeals; arguing motions; engaging in settlement negotiations; working closely with client departments; reviewing and analyzing files in a variety of cases; and recommending appropriate courses of action.
