Position Summary:

The selected Attorney will litigate cases primarily in Texas and California and shall work closely with our claim adjusters and insureds to deliver the best possible result in pending litigation. Our ideal candidate will be part of a unique team responsible for providing top quality representation to our insureds. This position is ideal for an experienced attorney with significant trial and litigation defense experience in general liability, commercial and personal automobile accidents.

Responsibilities:

• Independently handle a large volume of general liability cases from inception to trial.
• Analyze intricate substantive and procedural legal and factual issues, conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal research, independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients
• Prepare pleadings, written discovery, motions, and briefs in support of defense strategies with limited supervision due to expected level of experience and expertise
• Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice, and other services to clients and claim customers in a technology-driven environment
• Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures
• Effectuate the prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases.
• Independently conduct all aspects of litigation including trials, depositions, arbitration, and meditations

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 7 years of legal practice experience handling tort defense cases.
• First/Second chair jury trial experience.
• Strong legal research and writing skills
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize duties and time are a must
• Strong communication, computer and technological skills (proficiency in MS Office, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook; and Lexis Nexis) and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required
• Member in good standing of Texas or California State Bar
