Assistant County Attorney (transportation)
The candidate will assist in acquiring property for County road projects; prepare acquisition agreements, deeds, easements, certificates of taking and condemnation petitions; negotiate acquisitions, try eminent domain cases, and handle eminent domain appellate work; review Board of County Supervisors Agenda staff reports and corresponding resolutions and ordinances; and attend meetings with County Departments and Agencies on matters involving property acquisitions and potential condemnations. Should be a Juris Doctor from a College or University School of Law; 1-2 years of recent civil law office experience and must be a member of the Bar of the State of Virginia on their hire date. Actual experience with General District Court or Circuit Court case load and review of contracts and form documents would rise to the level of “Excellent Experience.”
This is a contract position that is funded for a minimum of six years that will require time-keeping on the assigned projects.
