Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on privacy and security obligations, including compliance with state, federal, and international data security regulations.
  • Guide data security incident notification and manage responses to security breaches.
  • Defend clients during regulatory investigations related to privacy and data security.
  • Assist in developing and implementing privacy and data protection policies and procedures.
  • Handle contractual matters related to security and data protection.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to understand and address complex security issues and breaches.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including compliance reports and regulatory filings.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving privacy and security laws and industry best practices.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in privacy and cybersecurity law, including law firm or in-house experience in breach response or related litigation.
  • Demonstrated experience advising on privacy and security obligations and handling data security incident notifications.
  • Experience defending regulatory investigations related to privacy and data security.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage complex workloads and priorities.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas or eligibility for admission.

Skills:

  • Deep understanding of data privacy and security laws and regulations.
  • Exceptional writing and oral communication skills with a persuasive and compelling style.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and maintain professional relationships.
  • Motivation to continuously learn and understand new technologies and forensic investigations.
