Workers Compensation Associate Attorney

Profile

A law firm in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney with at least 5 years of experience in civil litigation, including significant experience in workers' compensation defense. The ideal candidate will be a Georgia licensed attorney with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of handling cases from inception to resolution. This role involves reviewing and preparing motions, attending hearings and depositions, drafting legal documents, and managing a full caseload. The candidate should have experience with medical records analysis and demonstrate excellent research, writing, and communication skills.

Duties:

• Review and prepare motions related to workers' compensation cases.
• Attend and cover hearings on behalf of clients.
• Prepare clients for depositions and attend depositions as needed.
• Handle files from open to close, managing all aspects of the case.
• Analyze medical records and incorporate findings into case strategy.
• Draft initial reports, interim reports, pre-trial reports, and trial-related documents.
• Engage in appellate activity as necessary.
• Draft and respond to discovery requests and related motions.
• Regularly attend court appearances and manage case proceedings.
• Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses and expert witnesses.
• Draft motions for summary judgment and other procedural documents.
• Provide 1st or 2nd chair trial experience, including preparation and presentation.
• Collaborate with clients and team members to develop effective case strategies.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active and in good standing license to practice law in Georgia.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil litigation, with a focus on workers' compensation defense.
• Proven experience handling cases from inception to resolution.
• Significant experience in drafting and responding to discovery, motions, and other legal documents.
• Experience with medical records analysis and incorporation into case strategy.
• Demonstrated 1st or 2nd chair trial experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent research abilities and written and oral communication skills.
