Attorney - Senior Attorney - General Counsel
The candidate will advise and work with Institute staff on aspects of transactional and regulatory laws with a focus on contracts law and Safety and Environmental matters, including FAR, DFAR, OSHA, TCEQ, EAA. Review, provide guidance on and negotiate third party contracts and changes to Institute contract templates in support of the Contracts Department, as necessary. Review, update and maintain Institute contract templates and provide outreach and periodic training. Regularly attend meetings, including internal ACSEI committee meetings and serve as a backup at ACQI meetings. Serve as liaison with outside counsel and government officials, as assigned. Requires a Juris Doctor Degree (JD) from an accredited law school with a 3.0 and must be licensed to practice in the State of Texas. Should have 1-10 years of Transactional and regulatory experience with a focus on contracts law and Safety and Environmental matters. Experience in performing a variety of legal duties; drafting and negotiating legal documents; drafting, applying for, reviewing and/or maintaining various authorizations, reports, licenses and permits. Must be able to write clearly and concisely. Must have strong negotiation skills and the ability to work in a multi-functional team in developing policies and procedures. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills. In-house experience and familiarity with corporate matters are helpful. Familiarity with the science and engineering environments, non-profit organizations, and interfacing with regulatory officials is helpful.
