Paralegal – Risk Management

Duties: Supports the Health System’s Risk Management Department in litigation, research, discovery, preparation and maintenance of legal documents for various legal matters. Researches case law, codes, decisions, legal articles and public records in connection with various legal matters. Acts as point-of-contact for incoming inquiries related to litigation overseen by the Risk Management Department, obtaining pertinent information, performing preliminary research, reviewing inquiry and research results with management and/or colleagues, responding to inquirer, and maintaining related tracking/records. Drafts correspondence, notices and internal memoranda, and maintains records thereof. Provides assistance to insurance carriers and outside defense counsel in coordinating contact with Health System employees in connection with litigation overseen by the Risk Management Department. Provides assistance in responding to subpoenas, Orders to Show Cause, requests for non-party depositions, etc. Assists with discovery and prepares exhibits for various proceedings. Assists in the preparation of educational materials created by Risk Management related to the litigation process. Collaborates with facilities and departments throughout the Health System to obtain necessary information relevant to legal matters. Develops and maintains departmental databases for tracking / monitoring litigation information.
