Our Senior Chemist is responsible for applying chemistry expertise to solve clinical issues concerning disinfection of the root canal, as well as preservation and regeneration of dentin. This role serves as a technical lead on cross-functional new product development teams and leads the technical development of dental products. This role collaborates closely with Dentsply Sirona’s global R&D and marketing teams to advance the application of dental materials and commercialize newly developed dental products.
Plan and execute evaluation of new technologies associated with disinfection of the root canal, regeneration of dentin, and other clinical needs as identified
Conduct qualitative and quantitative chemistry analysis and provide technical presentation/reports as needed
Provide technical leadership in the design and prototyping of product concepts
Prepare and execute protocols/studies to support new product development from initial feasibility to final product verification/validation
Conduct literature / web-based searches to assist in designing experiments, developing test methods, and finding sources for experimental materials
Develop test capabilities and methods to provide rapid assessment of product concepts and support of new product commercialization of dental devices
Manage laboratory studies, projects, and processes/initiatives and completes technical reports
Provide technical consulting to quality, regulatory, and/or operations, requiring chemistry expertise
Support lifecycle management activities including protocols and reports required to support device registrations, non-conformances, and CAPA investigations
Seek out new ideas and applications through journals, patents, scientific reviews, and technical meetings in support of strategic initiatives
Partner with R&D, Marketing and or universities to develop and/or evaluate existing technology innovations as needed to support newly identified opportunity spaces
Support invention and intellectual property generation through research and development
Develop and communicate design specifications to relevant design partners and stakeholders
Serve as the technical expert on cross-function product development teams
Maintain an awareness of competitive products, dental procedures, and applicable new technologies
Proactively remain up to date with all necessary training on pertinent Global, Segment, and Departmental procedures.
Comply with Dentsply Sirona’s Standard Operating Procedures for design, commercialization and manufacture of medical devices.
PhD or MS in Chemistry or related field with appropriate years of experience.
BS with 5-10 years of related experience and/or training with a proven track-record of accomplishments will be considered
Prior experience in medical device industry preferred

Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquires or complaints. Ability to make effective and persuasive reports and presentation on complex topics to varying audiences.
Ability to apply advanced mathematical and statistical concepts.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions for chemistry related issues.
