Our K-12 team has an opening for an experienced and collaborative Project Architect.

DLR Group operates within a hybrid work model, supporting flexibility between office time and work from home.

Position Summary

As an Architect at DLR Group

you will be the main point of contact for our in-house integrated design team, coordinating all aspects of project document development to maintain the quality of the work product. As part of our integrated design team, you create buildings that elevate the human experience through design.

You will be responsible for coordinating, with assistance from a Project Manager, all aspects of the project documentation. You will collaborate with all project team members to produce quality work product while supporting design excellence. In many cases, you will follow the design through Construction Administration.

The successful candidate will:

Passionate about educational facility planning and design

Coordinate the design and follow it through architectural production and construction administration.

Identify and propose technical solutions to design challenges to the team and client.

Provide technical feedback in the conceptual development of the design.

Produce accurate documents aligned with firm standards and client goals.

Communicate to Project Manager the progress of assignments to meet the project schedule.

Participate in in-house training activities to further develop skills and abilities.

Have an appreciation and passion to successfully collaborate with Integrated Design Practice (in house engineers, interior designers, high performance design experts).

Have a comprehensive understanding of the coordination aspects and related requirements of all design disciplines

Identify and propose technical solutions to design challenges to the team and client.

Provide technical feedback in the conceptual development of the design.

Participate in in-house training activities to further develop skills and abilities.

Required Qualifications

8 or more years of experience.

Licensed Architect in North Carolina.

Interest in or experience with educational projects.

Strong technical knowledge in architecture.

Experience in the use of computer modeling and rendering software such as REVIT and Sketch-Up.

Must be a strong collaborator, detail-oriented and organized with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Have an interest in sustainable design.

Construction administration experience.
