Arnold & Porter has a Legal Resource Assistant opening supporting the Trusts/Tax & Estates Practice Group in the DC office. The Legal Resource Assistant will assist the Trusts/Tax & Estates attorneys and other legal professionals with administrative, organizational and research work in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assists with drafting and assembling estate planning documents.
Processes executed documents and prepares correspondence to clients and accountants.
Gathers, reviews, and organizes information for probate, tax and/or audit purposes.
Prepares and files various Internal Revenue Service forms, as needed.
Maintains indices and organizes client formal papers files.
Indexes and organizes files for off-site storage.
Organizes original documents to be stored in the firm’s vault.
Prepares, edits, and proofreads legal documents.
Manages calendars and schedules by coordinating meetings, conference calls, and appointments.
Enters and processes expenses and invoices.
Coordinates and schedules attorney travel.
Maintains an awareness of attorneys' caseloads and statuses.
Establishes and maintains attorneys' files.
Assists with timekeeping and billing.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a high school diploma, with a bachelors or two-year degree preferred.
A minimum of two years of prior Trusts/Tax & Estates experience.
Excellent organizational and communications skills, both oral and written.
Strong skills in MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint, Outlook, various databases and Internet research skills.
Ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously.
Ability to prioritize and manage time appropriately.
A proficiency with standard office procedures working in a team/collaborative environment.
Flexibility to work additional hours, as necessary.
