Senior Counsel
The candidate will primary responsibility of this role will be drafting, negotiating and closing complex and strategic commercial agreements in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Providing sophisticated and creative counseling and advice to business and technology teams regarding product development, deployment, and associated commercial considerations. Working closely with cross-functional teams to properly balance potential legal, regulatory, and brand risks against competing business objectives while providing legal advice and guidance regarding strategic initiatives and growth strategies. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements with key strategic merchants and partners, including customer agreements and partnership agreements. Provide timely, concise and business-focused legal advice to account executives, product teams, and other internal clients. Counsel business and product teams in developing new products and programs. Perform contract assessments against business use cases. Collaborate across other functions at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. and within **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Legal. Review presentations and other marketing materials. Organize and revise team playbooks. Improve internal processes. Create and update contract templates. Must have 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD and 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD plus 12 years of relevant legal experience drafting and negotiating commercial, SAAS and/or licensing agreement for technology platforms or service providers, including experience as lead associate. Relevant experience in financial technology, payments and financial services, data protection, contract and/or commercial law. Proven track record of providing sophisticated and creative counseling and advice to business and technology teams regarding product development, deployment, and associated commercial and contracting considerations. Ability to navigate difficult and complex issues. Admitted to bar in good standing or registered or eligible for registration as in house counsel in the state of office location. Prior in-house experience preferred but not required. Strong work ethic and flexibility for a fast-paced environment.
