We oversee and deliver all the statistical contribution to design, decision-making, interpretations and communication internally and externally for our therapeutic area portfolio.The Oncology Programming Director is accountable for the management of Programming on the sub-therapeutic area level. It provides significant input to the strategy of Programming and is responsible for the strategy for TA the sub-therapeutic area Programming. It has strong leadership skills, it will lead managers, and has a consistent record of running a global team. It establishes and ensures statistical programming, reporting, and clinical data standards for functional staff within a global organization.Accountable for strategic direction of Programming within sub-therapeutic area either by Product group, target tumors or product mechanism of action.Is responsible for the development of Programming strategy within sub-TA/ and significantly contributes to  the strategy for the Oncology TA which will focus on developing the next generation of Statistical ProgrammingContributes to or leads TA/R&D Biometrics critical initiativesResponsible for people development strategy within function for TA/sub-TAAccountable for programming quality oversight of drug portfolioProvides expertise to ensure sourcing (both internal and external) strategies are developed and executed to maintain the highest level of quality as regards to programming deliverables.Contributes to global governance of our external partners (i.e. Contract Research Organisations)Accountable for compliance to standards and automation usage for sub-TALeads Portfolio level programming capacity management for sub-TAProvides strategic, scientific and programming advice to teams and individuals regarding the submission of programming deliverables to global regulatory and payer authoritiesContribute to and maintain budgetary constraints through the long range planning processes and influencing Biometrics/R&D Programming headsInfluences and contributes to activities with the Industry programming CommunityRequired Skills: A bachelor’s degree in Mathematical (i.e., Applied Math, Engineering, etc), Statistical, Computer Science, Life Science, or relevant areaA minimum of 10 years of experience of demonstrative abilitiesDetailed knowledge of the clinical development process from development, launch through life cycle managementAbility to influence strategically and persuade thoughtfully to acquire desired outcomes while maintaining effective, positive, organisational relationshipsDetailed knowledge of industry trendsExperience successfully leading global teamsR&D approachStrategically Develops FunctionEye For Business and experience of influencing and controlling budgetsExperienced management skills on a functional levelPreferred Skills:Advance degree in statistics or mathematics (containing a substantial statistical component) with experience in pharma/healthcare or other relevant areaBroad experience, ideally across multiple therapeutic areas and outside of the fields of Programming Managerial experienceExcellent communication skills and ability to build positive relationshipsThis role can sit at our Gaithersburg, MD; Cambridge, UK; or Waltham, MA locationWhy AstraZeneca?At AstraZeneca when we see an opportunity for change, we seize it and make it happen, because any opportunity no matter how small, can be the start of something big.
