Deputy General Counsel and Associate Vice President
The candidate will report directly to our Vice President & General Counsel. Will advise organization’s leadership on a broad range of transactional and academic matters including human resources, contracts, procurement, corporate law, intellectual property; policy review (including interpretation, and development), faculty affairs and grievances, academic agreements, insurance matters, and public information request management. Will be part of a collaborative legal team and work with internal stakeholders and the state Attorney General’s office as appropriate. Will develop and provide university-wide training on a broad range of legal matters. Provide oversight for contract management processes and various legal and regulatory compliance matters including global regulatory/DoD contract compliance, Title IV, Title IX, ADA and accessibility, marketing activities and state authorization. Perform legal compliance efforts, in partnership with institutional compliance and risk, and related activities while raising awareness on new areas of compliance vulnerability. Assist with internal investigations and formal inquiries as well as responses to external complaints/inquiries, as needed. Assist with managing day-to-day office functions including providing leadership and direction to staff. Undertake projects relevant to the law and its impact on the operations of organization and as directed by the General Counsel. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
