As a Bridge Engineer, you will leverage your experience with bridge projects to assist in our growing Mid-Atlantic practice and manage the design and delivery of various projects from conceptual planning, through design, construction, and completion. The role of a Bridge Engineer is to work independently on smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project. You will lead the design of assigned projects to ensure reliability, resource efficiency, quality deliverables and cost-effectiveness.
This opportunity is for an engineering professional with experience in bridge design, different DOT\u2019s Bridge manuals and standards, AASHTO bridge specifications for bridge design projects that will be of varying complexity and size. You may provide supervision and guidance to a group of employees, assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals for accuracy and completeness; and maintaining budgets and schedules. You will support proposal efforts to expand our project base in the Mid-Atlantic market.
Responsibilities

Perform complex structural analysis and prepare design calculations.
Develop or assist in developing structural details and construction plans.
Prepare geometric / bridge layouts, construction specifications, and material quantity calculations.
Strong technical and communication skills with a commitment to quality.
Familiarity with AASHTO and VDOT and DDOT design and standards preferred.
Computer skills desired include Finite Element Software, Bridge Design Software, Microsoft Office, Computer Aided Drafting (Microstation preferred).
Familiarity with developing models in three-dimensional space and Experience working with BIM software platform OpenBridge Modeler.
Successfully interface with staff from a range of other disciplines (highway, traffic, civil, planning, etc.) to support a diverse range of projects.
Assist in creating parametric models for bridge design projects.
Help integrate three-dimensional modeling within the larger BIM process for bridge design.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on bridges or structures from an ABET Accredited University.
4 to 8 years of bridge design and analysis experience.
Experience in hydrologic / hydraulic analysis and design is preferred.
District PE license, or the ability to obtain one within six months is required.
Excellent verbal and written and presentation skills are required.
