Senior Litigation Counsel
The candidate will work with a team of other lawyers in the PNC Legal Department who manage litigation matters for the Retail Lending Services division of PNC Bank, N.A. The selected individual will have substantial individual responsibility for working with outside counsel to manage a portfolio of cases. In an environment of legal compliance and risk management, this individual will be required to provide advice and guidance on matters that are often legally complex and significantly impact the Retail Lending Services business unit. It is therefore necessary to be current on judicial and regulatory developments in the consumer finance and mortgage environment. Additionally, it is absolutely critical that the individual be able to identify matters that present systemic and other significant risks and work with appropriate lawyers and compliance officers in the Retail Lending Services business to communicate these risks and mitigate them. 5+ years of experience in mortgage/consumer finance litigation are required. J.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited law school. Currently licensed to practice in the courts of one or more states are required. Demonstrated ability to handle a large caseload. Demonstrated strong judgment are required. Very strong legal analytical and oral and written communications skills are required. Ability to effectively interact with line of business managers and non-litigation attorneys. Experience dealing with clients in a comprehensive and complex regulatory environment are required. Background in retail/deposit litigation, including UCC Articles 3, 4 and 4A. A strong working knowledge of mortgage and consumer finance originations and servicing, including mortgage and consumer finance lending related regulations and laws, including but not limited to (1) federal regulations, laws and programs (TILA, RESPA, HOEPA, HMDA, ECOA, FDCPA, FACTA, the U.S. Treasury/Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae modification and refinance programs, etc.); and (2) various state mortgage lending laws and procedures are required. Very strong legal analytical and oral and written communications skills are required. Experience dealing with clients in a comprehensive and complex regulatory environment are required.
