SMC Group Leader
Full Time / Hourly
In this position, you\u2019ll have the opportunity to: Show leadership abilities, display strong communication skills, oversee production, promote a high level of safety and instill motivation.
This is a working group leader role and, in addition to, will have many of the same key responsibilities as our SMC Operators while demonstrating strong leadership abilities.
Lead and develop safety awareness, safety initiative, accident reporting, and safety tasks
Develop & maintain effective communication
Assists in determining and organizing work assignments
Maintains work flow and ensures availability of proper materials
Assists in scrap reduction
Support lean efforts and objectives in the context of continuous improvement
Monitor, coordinate, and control work activities to include breaks, production/ downtime, scrap reporting, etc.
Monitor and maintain housekeeping / organization objectives using 6S approach
Train and support associates in proper production work methods and techniques
Maintain and support training initiatives/paperwork with the Mentor program
Provide supervisor & manager accurate and timely information from production floor
Notify supervisor of improvement opportunities
Must be able to perform or learn all jobs within the SMC operations
Assist quality lab activities
Complete daily documentation and data entry
Handle inventory transactions/back-up to Material Coordinator
Perform preventative maintenance work in compliance with OAM and Ivara
Good mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting background
Hazardous Waste certification
Operate floor scrubber
Scissor lift certification
Confined space certification
Assist engineering with process improvements, data collection and trials
Assist QMS program and supplier quality and complete quality customer service improvement action items
Other duties as assigned
Successful candidates will have:
High School graduate or GED
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Previous production experience in a leadership type position is a plus

Physical Demands: Physical demands of performing the duties of this job include, but are not limited to, occasionally lifting/handling up to >100 lbs, frequently lifting/handling up to <=100 lbs, and constantly lifting/handling up to <=50 lbs.
Non-Physical Demands: Include but are not limited to time pressures, frequent change of tasks, irregular work schedule/overtime, multi-tasking, working closely with others as a team, and tedious or exacting work.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the associate works around mechanical hazards, noise and or vibration on a daily basis. Extreme temperatures, wetness / humidity and being outdoors are seasonally in nature.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED required with six months to one year related experience preferred.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Computer Skills: Computer literate.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence.
