What's the role?
As a Principal Technical Expert (PTE) of Systems Engineering (SE), your prime responsibility is to be the key technical leader to drive the adoption of Systems Engineering across Shell's portfolio. Since Systems Engineering is new to both Shell and the Energy industry, the SE PTE will need to collaborate internally within Shell and externally with industry partners and suppliers, to develop the strategy and support implementation of the systems engineering for the company.
You can expect to be seen as a lead expert in systems engineering and its application across the project lifecycle for Shell. You will also provide experience, support and input to the development of the SE strategy and implementation - including development of global processes and communications.
More specific duties include:
Providing support to project teams and strategic themes / Line of Business (LoBs) to apply SE methodologies.
Interfacing with other improvement groups / transformation themes to drive an end-to-end / integrated improvement approach for projects.
Providing experience, perspective and insight from other industries on application of Systems Engineering elements.
Help develop Competency Frameworks and Training Programmes for SE practitioners and key stakeholders, including front-end development managements, project managers, engineering managers and disciplines, and senior leadership.
Supporting Shell’s Chief Facilities Engineer in development of discipline engineering skill pools
Providing assistance in the development of requirement sets, utilizing an SE / requirements management approach.
Maintaining a strong connection to the external world, including the supply chain, the industry, and academia, and general trends driving the energy business.
Actively participate as the Shell representative for the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Oil & Gas Working Group.

Requirements:
What we need from you
Naturally, we see you as a good team player and communicator, with a passion for developing your skills within Systems Engineering. Alongside your broad understanding of the oil and gas industry, projects and application of SE, we’re keen to hear from men and women with as much of the following on your CV:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering with existing or in-progress Masters in Systems Engineering
Seasoned professional experience in Systems Engineering or related role, within the oil & gas industry
Experience working with international oil companies, major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), or Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPCs) / contractors in the oil & gas industry.
Experience in projects and application of SE across a typical end to end project cycle.
Experience in helping lead a major change programme, and leading large community of discipline and project engineers spread across the globe, supporting major businesses.
Involvement in / experience with International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) working groups is an advantage.
Ability to obtain INCOSE CSEP certification.
