Liberty Mutual GRM IT is actively searching for multiple Senior to Principal Infrastructure Engineers
to join their Application Technology Services (ATS) team.
ATS is a team of engineers that help application development teams get their code to production and ensure the application is monitored, secured, and runs efficiently. We have several squads that specialize in specific technology stacks, but as a rule, we're looking for well-rounded generalists with a passion for DevOps, scripting, development skills, aptitude for learning new tools, and a consulting mindset.
We do everything from helping squads move their applications to the Cloud (primary AWS and Azure); helping them understand their application performance metrics; technical debt remediation; and helping manage day to day operational needs of our application partners. In addition, we run/manage POCs/POTs in the Cloud to help get applications to the Cloud while green fielding a new Cloud solution/pattern, which is then re-used by future applications teams.
The group is in growth mode and looking to add a resource to each of these squads:
Cloud Platforms & Integration Squad Responsibilities
Provide technical solutions for applications moving their stacks to AWS
Lead the deployment of solutions that allow application teams to consume AWS cloud services through automation and self-serve capabilities.
Provide extensive support and direction toward research of new tools and products in the marketplace to support software development services and provide guidance on technology selection.
Align with all stakeholders all infrastructure and application teams, security teams, and leads within the LM IT ecosystems to ensure the right solutions are being delivered that can be easily consumed.
Document processes for solutions to be easily consumed by a global user base. Help to communicate on how to effectively use the tools in the IT application portfolio.
Windows & Azure Squad Responsibilities
Must have demonstrated working experience as an infrastructure engineer supporting Windows based systems and solutions across a large customer base, both on-prem and Cloud based environments.
Thorough knowledge and experience with .NET framework, IIS Web Services, and COM .
Extensive experience with Azure DevOps CI/CD Pipeline builds, asset (VM) builds/updates, Azure cloud build/configuration.
Python/YAML - for ARM templates for cloud infrastructure and code deployments.
Ansible for IAC (Infrastructure as Code).
Strong PowerShell skills, ability to facilitate remote infrastructure automation rather than manual login/updates. Automate deployment of infrastructure/configuration builds and changes remotely to servers.
Unix & Containers Squad Responsibilities
Must have demonstrated working experience as an infrastructure engineer supporting Unix based systems and container solutions across a large customer base, both on-prem and Cloud based environments.
Thorough knowledge and experience with Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes
Experience with CI/CD Pipeline builds (Jenkins/Bamboo)
Extensive experience scripting with Python (or comparable object-oriented scripting language)
Background in Java applications development, troubleshooting, experience writing test cases in Java/JS, ability to make minor code changes as required
Experience delivering containers to AWS via pipelines
Observability Squad Responsibilities
Must have demonstrated experience working with Observability and Logging tools
Knowledge of cloud platforms and technologies and the ability to apply these to the design, development, implementation, and management of computing applications, infrastructure, and products.
Understands and has experience with DevOps or SRE practices.
1-3 years of scripting/automation skills using Python
Negotiation skills; oral and written communication skills.
Bachelor's or master's degree in technical area and 5 years equivalent experience
Experience with agile software methodology, and test-driven development
Proficiency with CI/CD tools and practices in a public cloud environment
In-depth knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) concepts
In-depth knowledge of creation and delivery of Infrastructure as code
Strong communication skillsand a knack for explaining your decision-making process to non-engineers
Proficient in multiple programming languages and tools.
