Dynamic supervisor needed for an innovative co-occurring (substance abuse/mental health) position within Fairfax Detoxification program for adults. Exciting opportunity for hands on supervisor experience, clinical experience, professional development, and potential for advancement in a progressive Fairfax County agency. Fairfax Detox is a multidisciplinary team that assists clients with safely detoxing from drugs and/or alcohol, crisis management, documentation, facilitating admissions, monitoring clients, transporting clients, phone screenings, urine screens, and other challenging opportunities to help clients in need of services.
Duties include overseeing the SOME (Substance Abuse Outreach Monitoring and Engagement) team and additional detox staff, this position coordinates all treatment activities for the SOME team which includes; case management and Outreach services for individuals leaving Detox and/or residential programs, in Outpatient detox, jail, shelters, and being discharged from the hospital to include risk assessment and referrals. Provided basic case management and a full range of care and support that individuals with substance abuse disorders and co-occurring disorders required in order to live successfully in the community. SOME program clients serve clients in need of supportive counseling; crisis intervention; direct assistance with limited activities of daily living; coaching; intake and discharge planning; relationship building; teaching decision making; self-advocacy, and wellness planning; educating regarding the need for medications; promoting continuity of care among various health systems and providers; providing family education and support; and generally overcoming barriers for accessing appropriate care. Also accessing and assisting to use any medical, nutritional, social, educational, vocational and employment, housing, economic assistance, transportation, leisure and recreational, legal, and advocacy service or support that the individual needs to function in a community setting.
All staff in the program are considered emergency services personnel. This position is primary Monday-Friday day shift, with the requirement of availability and flexibility with program coverage.

Illustrative Duties

Provides staff supervision for all clinical aspects of the program; Plans, assigns, and reviews work of team members; Interviews and selects candidates for various positions; Performs complex evaluations and makes independent diagnoses using Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD) - 10; Provides individual, family and group treatment; Maintains a caseload of diverse, complex, and high risk individuals; Develops treatment plans and adapts treatment interventions and approaches; Provides assessment and treatment services to individuals presenting a wide variety of emotional, social, and mental disorders over a range of severity; Consults with professionals on a variety of problems including delivery of needed services for clinically complex cases; Provides liaison to community agencies to facilitate communication and service provision for individuals requiring multiple services; Develops and implements program activities and services, including training and educational activities; Under direction, develops and implements a specialized program which is designed to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of service provision; Supervises day-to-day program operations; Promotes awareness of program services through presentations; Develops and monitors program's policies and procedures; Ensures that program is in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local policies, regulations, and statutes; Mediates and facilitates inter-and intra-program issues needing a systems perspective; Plans, recommends, and executes quality initiatives related to mental health standards; Monitors and analyzes the impact of psychotropic medication on an individual's functioning and mental status; Provides crisis stabilization and crisis management; Ensures that a facility is maintained in good operating condition and compliant with health and safety, licensure, and regulatory requirements.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited college with at least a master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or nursing plus three years of clinical experience or a doctoral degree in psychology, social, counseling or nursing plus one year of clinical experience. Must be eligible to be licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia in one of the following: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
First Aid and CPR certification within 90 days of appointment and maintained throughout Community Services Board employment. Valid driver's license with fewer than six demerit points (or equivalent in another state) must be maintained throughout employment with Community Services Board. Medication Administration Assistance (VA) (Required within 3 months) MANDT (Required within 6 months) Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia in one of the following: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry check, a driving record check, and sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer. A TB screening upon hire. Requires a National Provider Identifier.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Detox, outreach, case management, and engagement experience. Two years providing services to substance use dependent or co-occurring clients. Supervisory experience.
