Humana is kicking off an improved VMO program and is seeking a lead individual who is excited about IT Vendor Management and has experience working with all internal and external levels for IT Top Tier Vendors, Business, Risk, and IT departments.
The IT Vendor Management Lead (Strategic) holds Humana's strategic technology partners accountable via performance management, contract compliance, and relationship management, thereby allowing internal partners to focus on providing solutions to enable the perfect member experience.
The IT Vendor Management Lead establishes and implements hardware and software acquisition, protection, maintenance and retention policies, standards and procedures that are aligned with IT standards and strategy.
The IT Vendor Management Lead works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.
Responsibilities
Development and stewardship of the Humana VM strategy for assigned Strategic Vendor(s) - cross category.
Provision of Strategic VM consulting support across the vendor lifecycle
Develop and execute the vendor management program for assigned Strategic Vendor(s)
Leads Humana IT Relationship with the vendors- responsible for successful relationship development & management
The IT Vendor Management Lead:
Investigates available hardware and software products; evaluates and recommends products based on user requirements.
Coordinates with the procurement function to interview, select, and negotiate with hardware and software vendors in order to purchase the appropriate equipment at the lowest cost.
Reviews licenses and/or contracts to ensure that hardware and software equipment is covered by the contract and properly documented.
Oversees the information technology vendor relationship and delivery of outsourced services.
Supports the information technology function, evaluates vendor performance, needs assessment, spend optimization and risk management.
Directs the lifecycle activities for existing contracts. Identifies new technology solutions and works closely with internal business partners to forecast future needs and to develop cost effective strategies aligned with business objectives. Drives the strategy and selection of vendors.
Coordinates the negotiation and execution of contracts with the Legal and Contracts departments.
Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance.
Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision,
Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.
Activities
Empower Key Relationships through annual engagement communication plans, semi-annual customer satisfaction surveys, performing a suite of IT vendor committee meetings.
Track Benefits Realization through strategic initiatives for business case, financial, and contracted benefits performance management, as well as support for invoicing questions.
Manage contractual agreements by managing contract inventory and deliverables / obligations, performing contract maintenance (renewals, key dates, change tracking) and initiating amendment needs, and executing post contract review and interpretation.
Measure Vendor Performance by facilitating vendor performance reports & metrics alignment to the business, monitoring vendor reporting quality and managing vendor improvement plans and metrics source identification & dashboards, designing or modifying relationship metrics and measures, and aligning vendor's performance to IT & Business strategy.
Manage Vendor Portfolio by establishing and maintaining pertinent information on vendors profile, and supporting new opportunities for strategic vendor growth or innovation.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, with preferred training in vendor or contract management
Minimum of 7 years' experience with top tier suppliers, such as Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, SAP, Salesforce, Worldwide Technology, preferably as a vendor or contract manager, but supplier management or IT sales space also acceptable.
2 or more years of project leadership experience
