Job Purpose/Summary:
The Senior Manager, Training & Development will design, develop, implement, and maintain training strategies and solutions for all of Prepared Operations. The person in this role leads and directs a team of 35 – 40 Trainers across 3 5 Prepared Foods’ locations (approx. 15,000 team members), providing resources to train and develop team members to achieve safety, retention, onboarding, and engagement objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions of this position include:
Co-create Prepared Ops t raining strategy with the Talent & Culture team to drive standardization, safety, and retention across Prepared Ops;
Develop and execute technical and soft skills training and development programs, materials, and reporting to improve program effectiveness and automation;
Integrate training and development platforms, content, and initiatives with other BUs within Tyson and Prepared Foods;
Facilitate all types of technical and soft skills training for three primary audiences: (1) Newly hired frontline team members (5000 ) , (2) Supervisors and other manufacturing leaders (1300 ) , and (3) Trainers and Buddies (400 – 500 once fully implemented ) ;
Facilitate / lead pilot programs, train-the-trainers, team building sessions, leadership development, and other classroom training;
Develop effective people in key positions within the training department and upskill training team’s facilitation skills specifically related to leadership (soft skills) development curriculum .
Ensure adoption, effectiveness, and continuous improvements of training solutions across all locations through effective design, delivery, change management, measurement and communication; and,
Provides Prepared-wide thought leadership on issues related to safety, retention, engagement and overall training and development needs .
Requirements :
Education/Certifications: College degree or equivalent experience
Experience: 7 years of manufacturing experiences, 4 years training and development experience , Previous supervisory experience preferred in a matrixed organization
Computer Skills: Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel, Articulate / Rise, Workday Learning, and familiarity with web-based applications such as SharePoint , OneDrive, Alchemy and Alchemy Coach .
Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills - including verbal, written and listening skills; demonstrated candor, specifically listening with an open mind, having courage to speak up and give feedback, and acknowledging mistakes/failures; ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
Special Skills: Strong manufacturing operations knowledge and experience, including standardized work processes, continuous improvement, and safety protocols. Knowledge of adult learning principles. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong time management and planning skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail. Facilitation skills for all levels of leadership, that includes an engaging style to promote learning above and beyond presenting content from a slide. Ability to work in ambiguity and complexity; flexible and agile; ability to adapt to changing business environment and client needs
Supervisory: Manager level role that leads a team of 35 – 40 Trainers across 35 locations, some with matrixed reporting relationships . Responsible for leading and executing work through others.
Travel: Up to 75% - 85% t ravel required at certain points throughout the year
